Saudi Arabia-Japan: together in the 21st century
The Custodian of the
Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz
Al-Saud
The Saudi Arabia-Japan
relationship, which has been solid for the past fifty years,
is distinctively built on common values and shared
interests. It has proven to be a model for bridging the gap
between people and culture. Visits by members of the royal
families and government officials from both countries
contributed significantly towards strengthening the bonds
and scopes of cooperation. Japan, the second largest economy
in the world, enjoys respect and admiration around the
globe.
On the political level, Japan
plays a central role, in Asia in particular and the world in
general, in supporting peace and stability in the Middle
East. On the economic level, Japan is Saudi Arabia’s second
largest trading partner, where it receives one-third of its
energy supplies and Japanese trade and industrial
investments support the development of the Saudi economy.
We are honored to commemorate
this occasion by offering sincere wishes for the friendly
Government and people of Japan and look forward to further
enhancement of areas of cooperation in the future.
Japan-Saudi
Arabia ties unshakeable
Junichiro Koizumi,Prime Minister of Japan
The close friendship Japan and Saudi Arabia have fostered
over the past half century since our two countries
established diplomatic relations in 1955 is now unshakeable
and solid. Constantly on the rise are exchanges of high
officials and conferences of bilateral topics. In the
political arena, Japan and Saudi Arabia work together to
find solutions of the problems taking place in the Middle
East. In the economic arena as well, Japan cooperates with
Saudi Arabia by investing in its giant petrochemical
projects. Also with various commemorative events being
carried out in the cultural domain, Japan-Saudi Arabia
relations have been more intensified than ever.
Saudi Arabia plays a central role in the Gulf Co-operation
Council. The topmost oil producer in the world with the
largest oil reserves, it also plays challenging roles in
preserving peace and stability in the Middle East as well as
in maintaining economic balance of the world. Home to Islam
and a billion Muslims across the world, it also has a
powerful influence on the Islamic world at large. We look
far ahead into the future where our excellent relations are
even more essential in the international society.
