Congratulating the 50th anniversary
of Saudi Arabia-Japan relations

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan celebrate
this year the 50th anniversary of the
establishment of their diplomatic relations.
These deep-rooted relations are considered to be
a model of relations between friends established
on mutual respect and realization of common
interests. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan
enjoy the respect of the world on the regional
and international level as the two countries are
considered to be endeavoring to settle peace and
stability in the world, as well as providing aid
for the achievement of development and the
well-being of the people of the world.
The bulk of the commercial exchanges between the
Kingdom and Japan reflects the major role which
the economic sector performs for the benefit of
bilateral relations and spheres of mutual
cooperation. These past years have witnessed a
great leap in the size of the Japanese
investments in the Saudi market, particularly in
the industrial projects as well as in the
petroleum and petrochemical sectors, where the
latest agreement of partnership was reached
between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemicals in
the Rabigh Project, whose size amounts to US$4.3
billion. Likewise, Saudi Aramco acquired a
14.95% share of Japanfs Showa Shell Company.
The Saudi Arabian and Japanese governments look
forward to an increase in the prospective
investment projects that would bolster the
rapprochement efforts between the two people
and intensify the bonds of friendship and
cooperation.
I happily take this opportunity to congratulate
the leadership of our two nations and our
friendly two peoples, hoping and assuring to
continue working towards realizing the common
interests between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
and Japan.
