Special Program of the 50th anniversary

Firstly: Activities already accomplished this year, or which the dates have been fixed.

1. Competition called “Arabic Language Olympic” sponsored by the Arabic Islamic Institute in Tokyo (February 10-23, 2005)

2. Reception hosted by Japan-Saudi Arabia Society in honor of the new Saudi Arabian ambassador to Japan (February 23, 2005)

　

3. The 6th Saudi-Japanese Businessmen Council Meeting to be held in Tokyo (March 15-17, 2005)

4. Visit to Japan by Saudi youth delegation (2 weeks from March 18, 2005)

5. The kick-off reception hosted by the Embassy on April 12, 2005, to which V.I.P. persons from both official and private sectors as well as businessmen and journalists will be invited.

6. H.R.H. Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Horserace Cup in Tokyo Racecourse (date fixed for May 8, 2005)

7. “Saudi Day” staged within the activities of Expo’ 2005 in Nagoya (date fixed for September 9, 2005)

8. The 75th Saudi Arabian National Day (date fixed for September 26, 2005)

Secondly: Other activities to be carried out through the year 2005

1.     “Saudi Exhibition” ( painting; art; heritage; history; hand crafts; tourism; Saudi products exhibit; investment opportunities) co-sponsored by Ministry of Culture and Information, Saudi Airlines, Supreme Commission for Tourism, King Abdulaziz Foundation, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Saudi Arabian General Authority for Investment(SAGIA), Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (end of April).

2.     Seminar titled “50 years of relationship; Cooperation in the 21st century” in which academics (men and women) and specialists from both countries addressing the history of Saudi-Japanese relations, the particular importance of that relationship and the future and its challenges as recommended by the joint declaration signed between the two countries in 1998 with respect to the cooperation toward the 21st century; and which the two countries enjoy leading capabilities in each of their regions (the Far East and West Asia) in support of the efforts for international peace and stability (first half of May)

3.     Saudi folklore show (first half of June)

4.      Special seminar titled “Saudi Arabian economy and foreign investments” co-sponsored by Saudi Arabian General Authority for Investment(SAGIA), during which the objectives of the 8^th five-year plan, accomplishments of the previous developments plan and investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be highlighted. (September)

5.     Special Seminar on the tourism in the Kingdom(co-sponsored by Supreme Commission for Tourism and Saudi Airlines)( October )

6.     Special seminar on “Islam: The religion of Tolerance and Peace” (co-sponsored by Arabic Islamic Institute and Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University ( October)

7.     Friendly football match between Saudi Arabian National Youth Team and Japanese National Youth Team or between First Saudi National Team and First Japanese National Team (November)

8.      Visit to Japan by Saudi students delegation (from Prince Abdullah Center for the Gifted) (December)
