Crown Prince Sultan
arrives in Japan

H.R.H. Crown Prince Sultan bin
Abdulaziz arrived in Japan for a three-day
official visit. He was met at the Tokyo airport
by Crown Prince of Japan and other
senior officials.
In remarks to the Arabic language newspaper Al-Yawm,
His Majesty Emperor of Japan said that exchanges
such as the visit of Crown Prince Sultan
strengthen cooperation between the two
countries. H.M. the Emperor recalled the 1998 visit
by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, as well as the 1971
visit by the late King Faisal, and noted that
they had enhanced the Saudi-Japanese friendship.
H.M. Emperor also recalled H.R.H. Crown Prince
Sultan’s visit to Japan as Minister of
Communications in 1960.

Crown Prince Sultan Receives
Saudi Community In Japan

Minister and Inspector General, received here today the
Saudi community in Japan, led by the personnel of the
Arab Islamic institute, Saudi ARAMCO, SABIC and Saudi
students on scholarships in Japanese universities.
At the outset of the meeting, Crown Prince Sultan
praised the Saudi community in Japan, describing them as
unofficial Ambassadors of their people.
He said Islam is a religion of progress, development
and faith.
In a generous gesture on behalf of the Custodian of the
Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Crown
Prince Sultan offered Saudi students on private
scholarships to receive government full-scale subsidies.
The meeting was attended by a number of Princes,
including Prince Faisal bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, Ministers and senior officials.

H.R.H. Crown Prince
Sultan met with His Majesty Emperor of Japan, who praised the
prince’s support for Saudi-Japanese relations.
The emperor also remarked that Crown Prince Sultan's
visit current visit will further strengthen ties between
the two countries.
“We are proud of friendship and cooperation with Japan,
which plays an important role in the region and the
world,” Crown Prince Sultan said at a luncheon hosted in
his honor by H.M. the Emperor. “We are keen on deepening
cooperation with Japan and on reaching a joint
perspective on the issues of the Middle East and
international issues of mutual interest.”

Crown Prince Sultan holds talks with Japan’s
Prime Minister

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz held talks with
Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi , the second
day of the Crown Prince’s official visit to Japan.
The talks focused on bilateral cooperation as well as
regional and international issues, including the
Palestinian issue and the situation in Iraq.
Saudi Arabia and Japan sign MoU
Afterwards, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
political cooperation was signed between Saudi Arabia
and Japan. It was signed by Minister of State for
Foreign Affairs Nizar Madani and Foreign Minister Taro
Aso with Crown Prince Sultan and Prime Minister Koizumi
in attendance.
Prior to their meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi
presented Crown Prince Sultan with gifts, including
photos of the Crown Prince’s first visit to Japan in
1960 as Minister of Communications.
H.R.H. Crown Prince
Sultan met with the Japanese Minister of Trade Toshihiro
Nikai for discussions on cooperation in education and
technology.
In the evening, H.E. the Prime Minister hosted a banquet in
honor of Crown Prince Sultan. During the banquet, it was
announced that Saudi Arabia has donated $500,000 to the
Saudi Japanese Friendship Association.

Receives an Honorary PhD
in Waseda University

Crown Prince Sultan also
received an honorary PhD in law today from Tokyo’s
Waseda University in recognition of his contributions in
the fields of science, technology, humanitarian
services, education, health and the environment.

departs Japan

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz concluded his
three-day visit to Japan. It was the first stop on the
Crown Prince’s three-nation tour of Asia that also
includes visits to Singapore and Pakistan.
Before his departure, Crown Prince Sultan attended a
luncheon held in his honor by Japanese economic
organizations, including the Japan Federation of
Economic Organizations, Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, the Japanese Association for Foreign Trade,
Japanese-Saudi Friendship Association and the Japanese
Businessmen Association. In his remarks, Crown Prince
Sultan stressed that Saudi Arabia’s oil policy seeks to
ensure market stability and promote global economic
growth.

Crown Prince Sultan Sends Cable of Thanks
To Japan's Crown Prince

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz,
the Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and
Inspector General sent a cable of thanks to Japan's
Crown Prince Naruhito after leaving Japan today.
In his cable, the crown prince expressed his best thanks
to and appreciation of the Japanese crown prince for a
warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him
and the accompanying delegation which demonstrate strong
and close relations binding the two countries.
The crown prince expressed his pleasure over meeting the
Japanese crown prince who spelt out his cordial feelings
towards the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He wished the Japanese crown prince continual good
health and happiness and the friendly people of Japan
steady progress and prosperity.
