  Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah and Chairman of Hajj Central Committee, said at a press conference in Makkah today that 2.8 million pilgrims participated in this year’s Hajj, in addition to a large number of illegal pilgrims. Last year, over 750,000 pilgrims without valid Hajj permits participated in the Hajj.


  Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Hajj Supreme Committee, said in a letter to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Sunday that 1,799,601 pilgrims from 181 countries arrived in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj, an increase of 180,746 from the previous year.


  About 60 percent of domestic pilgrims are Saudis and the rest are legal residents.
